Jennifer "Jenny" (Griffiths) Young

In memory of Jennifer “Jenny” (Griffiths) Young, age 49, born on October 15th, 1974. 

Those fortunate enough to have tasted one of her snickerdoodle cookies or indulged in a slice of her chocolate cake with peanut butter icing understood that they were in the presence of someone truly extraordinary. Jenny could find beauty in the most unexpected places and see sunshine even in the midst of rain. Like a fleeting but stunning rainbow, Jenny’s time among us proved too short as she departed for her heavenly home on January 11th, 2024, while in the embrace of her husband and love of her life, Mark Young.

Surviving are her loving parents, William and Barbara Griffiths, and her sisters and their spouses, Nancy (Griffiths) and Jeffrey Kluck, and Betsy (Griffiths) and Scott Kramer. In addition, she leaves behind her devoted husband, Mark Young, and their four beloved children: David and Gabrielle “Gabby”(Valeski) Jeremiah, William “Billy” and Paige (Smerlick) Jeremiah, Matthew and Amanda (Constantino) Jeremiah, and Zachary Young with Alexis “Lexi” Edwards, and her Mother-in-Law Fayetta “Fay” Bolinger.  Jenny’s legacy extends to her adored grandchildren: Griffith “Griff,” Leif, Aria, Samson, Levi, Flynn, and Eloise. Mourning her loss are her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, in-laws and a multitude of friends who were more like family. In addition to her human companions, Jenny leaves behind her dear Bassett hound, Tucker. Jenny is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William and Betty (Zeigler) Griffiths, and maternal grandparents, Marion and Miriam (Derrick) Vought, and Father-in-Law Dale Bolinger. Though she is no longer with us, the impact of Jenny’s love and warmth will endure in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.

Jenny called Elysburg her home, actively participated in the Catawissa Garden Club and generously contributed to various community organizations. Both she and her husband Mark were previously employed by Vought’s Equipment Rental, a family-owned business now entering its fourth generation currently overseen by two of their sons, Billy and Matthew. Jenny’s passion for work extended to her summer work with The Girl’s Landscaping where she dedicated herself to making the world a more beautiful place. Additionally, she warmly welcomed guests at Knoebel’s Amusement Resort’s Latorre House and found joy in her work at the Bloomsburg Fair with Moyer’s BBQ.  

The true measure of a person’s impact lies in the legacy they leave behind, and Jenny’s legacy is woven with a thousand simple moments of kindness that collectively enriched the lives of everyone she met. It was a rare occasion to encounter Jenny without being offered her signature cookies, a beautiful smile or seeing her surrounded by friends and family.  Jenny was unparalleled in her work ethic, resilience, and boundless love – qualities that touched every aspect of her life. While our time with her was regrettably short, we are forever grateful for the profound moments we shared with this exceptional soul.

Services will be Friday January 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave, Elysburg, PA with Pastor Andrew Knisely officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 am until time of service.
