Charlene Lou (Miller) Shoup

Charlene Lou (Miller) Shoup, 76, of Catawissa went to be with our Lord on July 14, 2018 from the comfort of her home after a short battle with cancer. She was born August 17, 1941 in Bloomsburg, the daughter of the late Lawrence R. and Pearl A. (Hawk) Miller.

She graduated from RCV High School in Numidia in 1959. Charlene worked at local shirt factories after graduation. On April 7, 1968 Charlene married her loving husband Ralph H. Shoup. Charlene devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren while working the family farm.

Charlene worked for 3B Cleaning Service part time when she wasn’t going to an event to watch her beloved grandchildren. She was very active at Kulp United Methodist Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ringtown, and her home church The Mainville Reformed.  She enjoyed volunteering at her children and grandchildren’s schools over the years. Charlene could still always be found on a Friday night during football season at the Southern Columbia Music Booster Stand for over 30 years. She also volunteered in the Numidia Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 50 years, Ralph H. Shoup, two daughters; Clarissa Jane Geary of Ringtown and Scarlet Rae Shoup and Frank Weaver of Danville, four grandchildren; Mason and Kelin Geary, and Frank Jr. and Alexis Weaver,  and brother Larry T. Miller and wife Abbie of Catawissa.

A memorial service will be held Thursday July 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at Kulp United Methodist Church, 1395 Old Reading Road, Catawissa, PA 17820 with Pastor Adam Miller officiating. Burial will be at Kulp Cemetery at convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be sent to, Southern Columbia Area School District, c/o Music Boosters, 812 Southern Drive, Catawissa, PA 17820.
