Donald George Traugh III.

Donald George Traugh lll., 68, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord, Sunday July 7, 2019, at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital. Donald was born August 5, 1950, in Tucson, Arizona, a son of the late Donald George Traugh II. and Leatrice (Kinn) Traugh.

He graduated from Southern Columbia High School class of 1970, then from Fairmont in West Virginia in 1974 where he received his teacher’s certificate, and from Bloomsburg University where he received his master’s degree. He retired from Bloomsburg High School where he taught for 39 years.

He was the head football coach at Bloomsburg High School from 1978-1981, assistant football coach at Susquehanna University from 1982-1985, and assistant coach at Southern Columbia High School for the past 18 years. Donald served on the Catawissa Town Council from 1978-1989, and was a Boy Scout Leader from 1999 until 2001. He continued to be on the Merit Badge Council until 2018. He was a member of Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catawissa where he served on the church council from 1982 until 1985 and was an assistant minister at the church.

Donald was a member of Catawissa Hose Co. #1 for 50 years, being the Chief for the past 31 years. He was also the treasure of the Fireman’s Relief fund.

Donald is survived by his wife the former Brenda Kay Kreischer, whom he married June 14, 1975, two sons; Jonathan P. Traugh wife Anne of Catawissa, Brandon M. Traugh wife Kam of Elysburg, five grandchildren; Cameron, Gavin, Landon, Luke, and Lincoln, twin sister Dianna Shires husband Paul of Bloomsburg, two brothers; Wayne T. Traugh wife Susan of Madison, Wisconsin, Robert Traugh wife Kathy of Buckhorn, step-sister Anita Cropf and husband James of Danville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as stepmother Alpha Traugh, and sister Gail Anne Traugh.

Services will be Friday, July 12, 2019, at 11:00 am from Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church Street, Catawissa, with his pastor, Pastor Melody Sell and Pastor Gretchen Johanson. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday July 11, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremations Services, 193 McIntyre Rd., Catawissa Pa. 17820 and Friday July 12, 2019 from 10:00 am until time of service at the Church.
