Florence (Valencik) Loreman

Florence Loreman, 89, of rural Catawissa died April 20, 2019.

Florence was born in Marion Heights, a daughter of the late John and Tessie (Cherwinski) Valencik. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by brothers Raymond and Joseph Valencik.

She was married to Harry L. Loreman on August 15, 1947 and he passed away in 1979.

Widowed at age 50, she dedicated life to providing her son Chris, who had Down syndrome, with a happy life until his death on November 12, 2014. She also provided “daycare” for her adored grandsons Eric and Jonathan, and other family members.

Florence was an avid reader and lifelong learner, passing those skills to her daughters. Her frequent notes of support and encouragement were appreciated by family and friends. Her unique handmade collage/cards were designed for special occasions and treasured by recipients, including Bess Truman. Her greatest delight was in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and prosper.

Florence is survived by two daughters Kay Duncan and her husband Bill and Joan Straub and her husband Earl, grandson Eric Duncan and his wife Crystal, and grandson Jonathan Straub and his wife Celeste. As well as great-grandchildren: Brittany Britton and husband Walter, Destiny, Cecilia, Kamee, and Lauren Duncan, James Straub, sisters; Lucy Gaugler, Ethel Keagy, Patricia Pursel and husband Dale, and sisters-in-laws Barbara and Margaret Valencik.

At her request, funeral services will be private. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park, Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may send online condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com.
