Kenneth A. Hornberger, 87, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 18, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was born July 31, 1931, in Numidia, a son of the late F. Pierce and Violette Viola (Hendricks) Hornberger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Urso, and a brother, Sherman Hornberger.
Kenneth was a graduate of Locust High School. He worked for many contractors over the years. Ken worked for Magee’s and Kawneer, from where he later retired. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, in which he was a member since 1975. He also walked from Virginia to Connecticut in parts. He was also a member of Valley Chemical Fire Co. in Numidia, were he served a term as Fire Chief. Ken enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking and woodworking.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, the former Maxine Hendricks, whom he married on Dec. 17, 1949; also by a son, Daniel Hornberger, and his wife, Cynthia, of Sinking Springs; two grandchildren: Jessica Adams and Jennifer Urso; two great-grandchildren: Janiece and Janelle; a brother, Gerald Hornberger, and his wife, Jo Ellen, of Catawissa.

Services will be Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. from the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, 193 McIntyre Rd., Catawissa, with his Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Catawissa. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
