Timothy David Benner Sr.

Mayor Timothy David Benner Sr., 53, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord Sunday July 14, 2019 at his home. Timothy was born September 22, 1965 in Sunbury, a son of the Ruth (Leitzel) Renn and her husband Darvin and the late Timothy Charles Benner.

He graduated from Selinsgrove Area High School class of 1984, and was currently employed at Riverview Point. Over the years Tim was involved in coaching many sports, including; Catawissa Redskins midget football, Southern Columbia Area and Vo-Tech Area bowling, Catawissa wildcats basketball, and Catawissa Legion baseball. Along with coaching he was a pool shark and was a member in many pool leagues around the area. In his younger years he participated in ASA softball, and was a member of the Post 44 bowling team.

Timothy was a founder of Sons of the American Legion Post #44, and a member of the Southern Columbia Area School Board. Tim loved his community and was active throughout. He wanted nothing more than to make “Catawissa Great Again.” He was a member of Catawissa Council, Catawissa Dreaming, and was currently working on his second year as The Mayor. If you ever met Tim, you knew he was “The Mayor!”

Tim lit up any room he walked in. He made everyone laugh. You could find him betting left handed pool, which he always won! He enjoyed going out to the Tuscarora 50 every year with his best friend, Randy Benfer. He was an amazing man to all that crossed his path.

Timothy is survived by his wife the former Brenda Kaye Krum, whom he married March 26, 1991, two children; Timothy David Benner Jr. and wife Maddison of Catawissa, Nina Catlin Benner of Catawissa, three grandchildren; Kinslee, Eve, and Kyren, sister Amber Renn, brother William Benner and wife Melissa, their children Alexandra and Abigail, all of Sunbury, brother-in-law Doug Krum, his children Collin, Austin, Kailey of Catawissa, mother-in-laws; Ruth Ann Krum and Sharon Krum, two steps sisters. Four step brothers, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father as well as his father-in-law Barry L. Krum.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday July 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Catawissa Christian Church, 319 Main St., Catawissa with his pastor, Pastor Mike Spagnuolo officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at the Church.
