Allen R. Slotterback, Sr., 85 of Elysburg, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Mountain View A. Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Coal Township, Pa.
He was born January 5, 1931 in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Harry A. Margaret “Shaffer” Slotterback.
He retired from Catawissa Lumber. He enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. “Sabol” Slotterback who passed away March 5, 2005, a grandson Steven Shingara, who passed away in 2004 and three brothers: Donald, Charles and Leonard Slotterback and three sisters Minnie Stine, Betty Thomas and Martha Slotterback.
He is survived by three sons: Allen Slotterback Jr. and his wife Susan, of Coal Township, Michael A. Slotterback and his wife Denise, of rural Elysburg; Harry G. Slotterback of rural Elysburg; two daughters: Barbara J. Slotterback of rural Elysburg; and Ann M. Hughes and her husband Robert of Elysburg; three grandchildren: Paul Shingara, Holly and Allen Slotterback; four great grandchildren: Jacob and Kaylee Shingara and Kathryn and Rachel Slotterback. Two sisters Shirley Payeskie, of Elysburg and Alverta Long, of Tharptown.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services 193 McIntyre Rd. Catawissa, Pa with Pastor James Bowers officiating. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
