Alverna Creasy Obituary

Alverna I. Creasy 100, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord Friday February 24, 2023, at Vintage Knolls Danville. She was born, February 28, 1922, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late Issac and Elizabeth (Drumheller) Breech.
She attended Hartman School. Alverna and her husband built their home in 1953 where they started their business known as  River Hill Nursery. . While running the nursery she also sold Tri Chem liquid Embroidery for many years. She belonged to the former order of Eastern Star, Cattawese Chapter 265, which she served in many positions and  where she also served as Worthy Matron. She  belonged to Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catawissa. She enjoyed gardening and going to family events,especially attending her family reunion which was held on her family homestead for the past 103 years. She and her husband were members ofthe Danjo Wheeler square dancing group in Danville, until they started their own group at their home. Her and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in Florida.
Alverna is survived by three children; Dennis Creasy his wife Carolyn of Benton, R. Max Creasy his wife Nena of Calf, Deborah Danilowicz and her life partner Elizabeth Harris of Danville, ten grandchildren; John , Gregory , Karena, Joshua, Jonathan, Jessica and Dillon Creasy, Keith, David, and Nathan Danilowicz, 10 great-grandchildren,4 step great-grandchildren,, 5 great-great-grandchildren,and 9 step great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Ralph “Bing” Creasy who died in 1998, son James D. Creasy in 2022, eight brothers,Charles, Bernard,Foster,Luther, Oscar,Max,Pierce,and Alvin and four sisters,Sara Lewis, Hilda Bickert ,Edith (Rosie) Lemons and Edna Tilley. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday March 4, 2023, at 11:00 am at Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church St., Catawissa, with her pastor, Rev. Gordan Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am till time of service. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the church.  A time of fellowship,along with a meal will be held, following at the church.
