Barbara M (Getkin) Leighow

Barbara M. Leighow, 86, of Catawissa, went to be with her husband on Wednesday April 26, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville.

Barbara was born March 27, 1938 in Catawissa, a daughter of the late Harold and Barbara Madge (Ernest) Getkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry R Leighow Jr., who died on September 28, 2015, and four siblings, Jimmy, Glen, Margie, and Jessie.

Barbara attended school in Catawissa. While being a military wife she lived in three different countries and many states before returning back to Catawissa. Among her accomplishments she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and secretary for the Air Force NCO Wives Club. She was a former Den mother for Cub Scouts. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. 

Barbara is survived by three children, Michael of Danville, Brian of Reading, and Lori and her husband Paul of Aurora Co. and one granddaughter Heather and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday May 5, 2023, at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services 193 McIntyre Rd. Catawissa Pa. 17820 from 6:00 pm until 7: 00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
