Barbara Ann (Balthaser) O'Brien

Barbara Ann (Balthaser) O'Brien left the Earth and joined God’s warm embrace on September 22nd.

Born May 25,1950 in Hamburg, PA to the late Norman Balthaser and Edna (Bagenstose) Balthaser.

She was an accomplished, intelligent woman who was extremely active prior to her diagnosis. She loved to keep her family smiling and on their toes to the end.  She enjoyed dancing, playing tennis, reading, and traveling. She received her Master's Degree from Penn State and was a faithful Nittany Lions fan She was a devout Lutheran who loved to give back to her church and community.  Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Michael, and children, Sarah (Richard) Tratthen and Justin O’Brien. She cherished her time with her grandchildren: Richard, Brooklyn, & Lincoln.  Barb also leaves behind siblings Nelson (Lyn) Balthaser, Elaine Balthaser, and Susan (Stan) Wilson, along with many nieces and nephews. 

Service will be Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at Christ United Lutheran Church 116 Church St. Catawissa, Pa 17820, with Pastor Melody Sell officiating. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Christ United Lutheran Church. The Allen R.
