Betty June (Kreischer) Runge

Betty June (Kreischer) Runge, 93, of Numidia, passed away peacefully Friday June 2, 2017 at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care. She was born June 12, 1923 in at her homestead in Roaring Creek Township, a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Meek) Kreischer.

Betty was an extremely talented seamstress even in her early years. She worked in various local clothing factories and enjoyed mending out of her home. She was known for her crafting abilities especially her homemade fur coat bears, quilts, and pillows.

Attending the Covered Bridge Festival as a craft vendor was always a highlight every year for Betty for over 30 plus years. She loved to talk with and get to know her customers. Above all else she was a very devoted and loving wife, mom, gram, and great-grammy.

Betty is survived by her four children; Terry R. Runge and wife Susan, LuAnn F. Williams and husband Kent, Ned G. Runge, and Annette B. Hoffman and husband Michael, all of Catawissa, four grandchildren; Michael K. Williams and wife Elizabeth, Chad L. Runge and fiancé Valerie, Emily M. Gregorowicz and husband Jay, and Brad A. Williams and friend Sonia, two great-grandchildren Brianne and Caden, and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Runge who passed away December 21, 1996, sister Edith Hughes, and two brothers Lee and Gerald Kreischer. Betty was the last of her immediate family.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 12:00 pm, at Kulp United Methodist Church, 1395 Old Reading Rd. Catawissa Pa. 17820, with Pastor Adam Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Millgrove Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at the Church from 11:00 am till time of service.
