Billy Joe Houchins

Billy Joe Houchins, 87, of Catawissa passed away May 31, 2017 at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1930 in Pipestem, West Virginia, a son of the late Homer and Mae (Lilly) Houchins.

He graduated High School and then entered Army during the Korean War. Billy worked for the United States Government Department of Defense retiring in 1985 after 36 years. Billy was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Odenton Lodge 209 in Maryland, Valley of Baltimore County, and American Legion Post 209 of Baltimore. He enjoyed hunting and showing old cars.

Billy is survived by his son Billy J. Houchins Jr. and wife Joanne, three step-children Rose Marie Paczkowski, Roberta Fields and husband Joseph E, and Robert Ash Sr. and wife Lisa. As well as brother Danny Houchins, and sister Gloria DeGeorge.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife the former Margaret Revenis who passed away June 19, 2002 ending a 30 year marital span, brother Eddy Houchins, and four sisters; Geneive Ervin, Mildred Christmas, Garnett Roberts, and Mary Colonna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday June 5, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Rd, Catawissa, PA 17820 with Father Patrick Devine officiating. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday June 4, 20174 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa.
