Darris (Levan) Wohlforth

Darris LeVan Wohlforth, 86, of Harrisburg, formerly of the Catawissa-Numidia area, Columbia County, passed away Monday, Oct.31, 2016.
Born March 18, 1930, in Catawissa, she was a daughter of the late Vaughn D. and Florence E. LeVan.

She worked on the farm she and her late husband, Ambrose, owned and operated. She also worked at Regal Shirt, U.S. Radium, and Hanover Brands. She was a homemaker and loved animals, especially her dogs. She was a member of United Church of Christ of Numidia, and was a former member of the Roaring Creek Valley Grange, Numidia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose G. Wohlforth, who passed away Nov. 3, 2009; three brothers: Lee Allen who was killed in World War II; Neil LeVan and Marlin LeVan; two sisters: Carol Shissler and Marjorie Busch; and a sister-in-law, Jacqueline LeVan.

Darris and her husband had a marital span of 60 years. She is survived by two sons: David Wohlforth and his wife, Julie, of Dallastown; Gary Wohlforth and his wife, Christina, of Lititz; and a daughter, Sandra Wohlforth Reber, of Harrisburg; and five grandchildren: Sarah, Quenton and Autumn Wohlforth; Jordyn and Elliot Reber. She is also survived by a sister, Gloria, and her husband, Richard Breech; and a brother, Glen V. LeVan, of Catawissa.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Donald Snyder, retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Elan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
