David P Pope Sr.

David P. Pope Sr. 84, of Tobyhanna, went to be with the Lord, Saturday June 8, 2024 at Glory Haven Foundation, in Catawissa, Pennsylvania.

David was born June 28, 1939 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the youngest of 18 children to the late Fredrick and Glendora (Strunk) Pope, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Sylvia, Mildred, Freda, a baby brother, Arlene, Elwood, Lesa, Allen, Edwin, James, Melvin. Harriet, Barbara, Pauline and Claude.

David was a graduate of Coolbaugh Township Consolidated School, Class of 1957. Prior to retirement in 2000, he owned and operated David P. Pope Insurance Agency. David was a long-time member of the Tobyhanna United Methodist Church, served on the Monroe County Housing Authority Board, and participated in Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company Carnivals. David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was light-hearted with a great sense of humor and quick wit. He cherished his family and friends and his greatest joy was spending time with them and helping whenever needed.

David will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Alla (Efimenko) Pope, whom he married on February 14, 1998, also children, Sherilynn Ostopick (Alex), Audrey Lutz, Fred H. Pope (Amy), David P. Pope Jr. (Kimberly), Gina Missey (David) and Vikitoria Efimenko (Alexander); beloved grandchildren Jerome Lutz, (Melona), Michael Lutz (Nyolie), Jamie Ramos (Fernando), Andrew Pope (Ashley), Matthew Pope, Erin Traina (Peter), Jenna Burge (Raymond), Sarah Burge, Kaitlyn Pope (Matthew), Ryan Pope, Amanda Pope, Emma Pope, Jackie Missey (Matthew), Joshua Missey, Danielle Missey and Kristina Efimenko and Valeria Prosvirov (Mikael); 11 great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He also has two surviving siblings Audrey Regan and Thomas Pope.

Memorial services will be held on June 21, 2024 at 11 a.m.at Tobyhanna United Methodist Church, 538 Main Street, Tobyhanna, PA 18466. Visitors are welcome starting at 10 a.m.
