David P. Sponenberg, 84, of Bloomsburg, passed away on January 24, 2026, at Glenbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 22, 1941, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late David and Margaret (Lizardi) Sponenberg.
He attended Catawissa High School where he played football. David enjoyed collecting trains, gardening, and farming. He worked for Don Cotner Farms, where he drove truck. David was a member of Loose Ties Railroad Club.
David is survived by his wife the former Darla Adams, whom he married May 9, 1970, son Steven Sponenberg, grandson Aiden Sponenberg, brother Lewis “Bob” Sponenberg of Orangeville, sisters Joann Cleaver of Bloomsburg, and Kathy Yeager of South Carolina. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Amy Miller who was like a daughter.
David was preceded in death by his parents as well as five siblings: Nancy Breisch, Marjean Manhart, Barbara Richendifer, Gayle Yocum, and Kimberly Manhart.
