Doris Smith Obituary

Doris Kathryn (Mensch) Smith, 98, of Bloomsburg and formerly of Catawissa entered the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday May 12, 2025. She was born On Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927 in Catawissa, a daughter of the late Howard Daniel and Kathyrn Grace (Gottshall) Mensch.

She worked for the former Regal/Emenee Shirt Factory for many years. Doris married her husband Ted Smith Sr. on November 31, 1946. She attended Catawissa First United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed helping wherever needed. She belonged to the Catawissa Senior Center and helped deliver Meals on Wheels.

Doris enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, and bowling. During her earlier years she bowled in leagues and went to several state competitions. She also bowled for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and loved doing word puzzles and spending time with family.

Doris is survived by two sons: Ted C. Smith II., Curtis A. Smith (Jamie), all of Bloomsburg, three grandchildren: Clayton A. Smith (Jackie), Ted C. Smith III. (Maria), Megan J. Rupp (Michael), five great-grandchildren: Ashley and Emily Smith, Armand, Nicholas, Serena Smith, two step-great-grandchildren Ryan and Mason Rupp, and sister Judy Mowery of Bloomsburg.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband Ted C. Smith Sr., who passed away on September 14, 1994, two brothers: Carl and Marlin Mensch, three sisters: Lois Howe, Ruth Herman, Dorothy Shepard, and daughter-in-law Karleen Smith.

The family would like to thank Sandy Mayernick, who was a special friend and great help to Doris, as well as her friends at Riverview Point Apartments.
