Eleanor W. Brobst, Bloomsburg expired January 21, 2016 at the age of 92. She was born December 9, 1923 in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Anthony T. Waskie and Cecelia (Chapleski) Waskie Macheski.
She was the wife of Willard G. Brobst who expired March 13, 2009, ending a marital span of 62 years.
She graduated from Locust High School in 1944. Then she graduated from the Bloomsburg Hospital School of Nursing, where she later worked as a Operating Room Supervisor. She was also instrumental in planning and supervising the Post-Anesthesia Recovery Room, the Central Services Department and the Infection Control Departments.
She attended and worked at the University of PA Graduate Hospital School of Operating Room Techniques and Management in Philadelphia, PA.
Eleanor was a Lieutenant in the United States Army Nurse Cops during WWII for approximately two years.
She belonged to the A.O.R.N., the AARP, the American Legion Post #541, the Order of Eastern Star, and The Bloomsburg Hospital Alumni Association.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce Ann Brobst-Kromer, wife of Daniel of Sellersville, PA, a sister Christina Yasenchock, wife of George of Wayne, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents as well as two brothers Andy and Leonard Waskie.
Services will be Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, PA 17820 with Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Numidia. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am till time of service.
