Eleanor P. Guarno 87, of Danville, and formally of Numidia, went to be with the Lord, Saturday May 21, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born March 20, 1935 in Yonkers New York, a daughter of the late Paul and Rose (Blecker) Dupnock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Rider and Pat Dupnock.
Eleanor was a graduate of Catawissa High School Class of 1952. While in high she was a cheerleader, a member of the drama club, and played the saxophone. It was while roller skating at Knoebels that she met her husband Florey. In support of her husband’s occupation as a rural letter carrier Eleanor became involved in the National Rural Letter Carrier’s Auxiliary. While in the Auxiliary she was president of her local county, and then became the PA State President, and later had the honor of becoming a National Officer for 5 years, after 5 years of different positions on the National Auxiliary Board she then became President. As a member of the National
Board, she attended conferences and conventions in 45 states. Eleanor also attended luncheons for three different Postmaster Generals, and other postal executives. One of her most memorable moments was when she was invited to the Rose Garden by then President Clinton when he put on a gala welcoming the Chancellor of Germany to the White House. She worked for the A.S.C.S. office for many years. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, roller skating, and playing golf. Eleanor enjoyed traveling, gardening, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by her husband Florey A. Guarno, whom she married on May 10, 1958, three children; Ann Weigle and husband Brad of Bloomsburg, Anthony F. Guarno of Wormleysburg, Pa, Chris Cooke and husband Mark of Shickshinny two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Lauren and seven step grandchildren; Steven, Brandon, Remington, Morgan, Lexi, Heather, Lindsey and fifteen great grandchildren; Cole, Calleigh, Logan, Kensi, Carter, Bryson, Weston, Knox, Rhett, Ava, McKenzy, Addison, Ella, Tre, and Connor. Services will be Friday May 27, 2022, at 11:00 am, at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Rd. Catawissa Pa. 17820, with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating, Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery Elysburg. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
