G. Dennis Deska

G. Dennis Deska, 79, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, April 26th, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. 

Dennis was born May 15, 1940, son of the late George Deska and Evelyn (Shoffler) Deska. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Dawn Deska in 2019, and Ella-Mae Deska in 1997; his two sisters, Shelley Schofield and Caroline Alkema, and step-son Derl Wynings.

Dennis grew up in Paterson, NJ. He attended schools in Elysburg, PA, and Paterson, NJ. He was a diehard New York Giants football fan. He and his first wife Ella-Mae, fostered over 72 children. He is a retired Ironworker, for local 489 out of Scranton, PA. He enjoyed volunteering at AGAPE, and cooking with his wife Dawn, at their church, Lightstreet UMC. 

Dennis is survived by his children: Dwayne Deska and wife Kim, of Catawissa, Beth Casaldi and husband David, of Berwick, Ward Deska and wife Nancy, of Phillipsburg, NJ, Wade Deska and wife Joanne, of Berwick, Charlene Shultz of Berwick, Kelly Deska of Millville, Rose Hubbard of Shamokin, and Amy Deschaine and husband Michael, of Berwick; 5 stepchildren (with wife Dawn), and he is a loving grandfather of 46 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His siblings include, Jeff Deska and wife Carol, of Lincoln Park, NJ and Sue Zukowski, of Berwick.

Services will be announced at a later time because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
