Jay V McCarthy

Jay V. McCarthy 80, of Catawissa passed away on September 16, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville. He was born, October 12, 1941, in Catawissa, a son of the late Joseph and Minnie (Fetterman) McCarthy.

He was a graduate of Catawissa High School and was a social member of the Catawissa V.F.W. post 8306 and the American Legion post 541. Jay enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything to do with the outdoors.

Jay is survived by his wife the former, Christine Knorr, whom he married on June 20, 1985, four children; Jay McCarthy Jr. and his wife Tammy, Jayna Peters and her husband Bart, Tracy Fessler and her husband Ray, all of Northumberland, and Timothy McCarthy and his wife Donna of Shamokin. As well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, three brothers; Dean McCarthy and his wife Sandy of Bloomsburg, James McCarthy of Catawissa, William McCarthy and his wife Sandy of Danville, sister Rose Majkoskie of Catawissa, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday September 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Rd. Catawissa Pa. 17820, with Pastor Chris Dunlap of the Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
