Jean (Griscavage) Barnes

Jean Barnes, 90, of Catawissa passed away on Sunday November 17, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born November 4, 1934 in Kulpmont, a daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Bondy) Griscavage.

She graduated from Kulpmont High School in 1952 and worked as a nurses aide. She married her loving husband Thomas on March 16, 1959. Jean was a member of Esther Furnace Church, Catawissa.

Jean is survived by her daughter Nyla Kehres husband Terry of Coal Township, two grandsons: Nathan Leighow of Catawisa, Aaron Barnes wife Kayla of Colorado Springs, CO., and one great-grandson Maverick Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Thomas H. Barnes, who passed away on March 7,1992, ending 33 years of marriage, grandson Eric Kyle Barnes, sister Barbara Erdman, and brother George Griscavage. 

Services will be Friday November 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Esther Furnace Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
