Jean Anna Hoppy, 88, of Benton went to be with the Lord July 10, 2017 at her home. She was born June 18, 1929 in Fisherdale, a daughter of the late Victor S. and Goldie I. (Artley) Rupp.
She graduated from Numidia High School. Jean worked as a cook at Benton High School. Jean was a member of Fisherdale Church in Numidia and Bible Baptist Church in Benton. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards with friends, gardening, crocheting, reading, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by seven children; David Hoppy and wife Gloria of New Tripoli, Ronald Hoppy of Orefield, Byron Hoppy and wife Carol of Schnecksville, Dale Hoppy and wife Carol of Slatington, Jeffrey Hoppy of Palmerton, Douglas Hoppy and domestic partner Teresa Belles of Benton, and Julia Oswald and husband Dallas of Orefield, twelve grandchildren; Scott Hoppy, Jill Hoppy-White, Christy Marth, Tanya Hoppy, Jessica Hoppy, Jason Hoppy, Ryan Hoppy, Douglas Hoppy, Candace Hoppy, Olivia Hoppy, Kenneth Oswald, and Robert Oswald, and six great-grandchildren. As well as two sisters Patricia Lang and husband Jim of Ocala, Florida, and Ruby Herring of Macungie, PA.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Edward Hoppy who passed away December 21, 1995, grandson Mark Edward Hoppy, two brothers; John and Glenn Rupp, and six sisters; Leah Rupp, Alma Morton, Effie Webb, Sarah “Dot” Kellum, Gloria “Avis” Rupp, Dolores “Skip” Herring.
Services will be Friday July 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Bible Baptist Church, 250 Shickshinny Road, Benton, PA 17814 with her Pastor Paul Moseley, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until time of service.
