Joan Ruth Carey, 85, of Orangeville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at the Gardens of Orangeville. She was born Nov. 16, 1934, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late James and Carrie (Eyler) Nolan.
She graduated from Pottsville High School and worked at sewing factory. Joan enjoyed Jesus, sewing, knitting, and doing crafts.
Joan is survived by her son, Brian Carey, of Denville, N.J.; granddaughter, Joylin Carey; and longtime friend, Gary Gulliver.
Joan was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Carey; brother, Warren Nolan;, and two sisters: Jean Wentzel Huff and Alberta Nolan Baxter.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at 1 p.m. at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with Pastor Grady Gulliver officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery.
