John O Burns

John O. Burns, 58, of Elysburg passed away Tuesday October 23, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He is at peace after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 5, 1960 in Williamsport a son of the late, Robert J. and Virginia (Smith) Burns.

He graduated from Williamsport High School class of 1978. He went to Williamsport Area College for Food Service Management. John worked for Autoneum, formally known as Magee Carpet in Bloomsburg. John enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and wood working. He was a Pirates and Pittsburg Steelers fan. He was a member of Queen of Most Holy Rosary, Elysburg.

John is survived by his wife the former Lisa Murdock, whom he married November 5, 1983, two children; John R. Burns of Hinsdale, NY, and Amanda Burns of Elysburg. As well as his brother Robert Burns and wife Ann of Williamsport, two sisters; Evelyn Willen and husband Steve of Missouri, Susan Vilella and husband Pepe of Williamsport, and several nieces and nephews. John was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held Monday October 29, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Chaplain Doug Knepp officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until time of service.

In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be sent to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
