                John J. ‘Sabe’ Sabol, Jr., 74, of Catawissa passed away September 24, 2015 at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center. Born March 2, 1941, in the Bloomsburg Hospital, the son (and only child) of the late John Joseph and Olga M. (Nazarchyk) Sabol, Sr.  
                Surviving are one son Perry L. Sabol, Selingsgrove, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.       
His beloved wife of 39 years, Mary Jo A. (Joline) Sabol preceded him in death on September 1, 2008.
                John was a lifelong resident of the Borough of Catawissa. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his Honorable Discharge from military service, he was employed as a part-time police officer with the Catawissa Borough Police Department for a 5 year period; attaining the rank of Corporal.
                John was a lifelong member of Saint Columba Roman Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, serving the Ministry of Ushers for 26 years. John was employed by the Catawissa Valve and Fittings Company, Catawissa, for 35 years. He was employed part-time by the Catawissa Municipal Water Authority, Catawissa. John’s latest employment was with the Catawissa Bottling Company, Catawissa, for 15 years. He was a member of Council for the Borough of Catawissa for over 11 years.
                John was a Charter, Founding, and Honorary Life Member of the Catawissa Boat Club. He was an Honorary Life, Third Degree member, Past Grand Knight, Past Deputy Grand Knight, and Treasurer for 22 years of Father Arthur J. McCann Council 2290, Knights of Columbus, Bloomsburg; the recipient of the Knights of Columbus ‘Knight of the Year’ Award in 1992; he and his family were recipients of the ‘Family of the Month Award’ in January 1999.
                John was a member of the Catawissa High School Alumni Association; Active Member of the American Legion, Post 541, Catawissa; Life Member of Catawissa Hose Company #1, Catawissa; Life Member of the Catawissa Creek Restoration Association. He served as a Parade Marshall for the annual Catawissa Borough Halloween Parade for thirteen years.
                He was a devoted Country music fan, avid Penn State and Coach Joe Paterno fan; enjoyed NASCAR racing; enjoyed and engaged in carpentry work and home improvement projects. John and his late wife, Mary Jo, were devoted animal lovers.
                A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday September 29, 2015 at noon at St. Columbia Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg with Monsignor Charles Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of service at the church. Family and friends may send online condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com.
                At John’s request, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to EOS Therapeutic Riding Center, 288 Dahl Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or a memorial fund at any area church or charity of your choice.  
                John is entrusted to the care of the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa.
