John W. Turofski, 69, of Catawissa passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.
John was in Danville, a son of the late Walter Turofski and Alberta Shuda. After Walter’s death, she remarried John Zarko.
He was a 1965 graduate of Southern Columbia High School where he was known as an outstanding wrestler. He worked numerous places before purchasing his Catawissa farm with his wife, Sandra, in 1968.They continued to run a successful dairy operation for over 40 years. John became a wrestling coach with the G.C. Hartman Elementary School program and loved working with the children for many years.
John is survived by his loving wife the former Sandra Allen; son Eric and wife, Lori; daughter Kim and husband, Craig Sheehan. John was a grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren: Taylor Jones, Logan Turofski, Brendan and Nathan Sheehan. John also leaves behind his sister Patti Zychek and husband Frank; sister Fran Kerstetter and husband Larry; brother Frank Zarko and wife Kathy; and sister Cathy Dressler and husband Boyd (Skip). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews
A memorial mass will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa with Father Thomas Mannion officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
