John M. Wargo Sr., 82, of Catawissa passed away peacefully with his family by his side, March 1, 2016 at Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center. He was born January 29, 1934 in Kulpmont, PA, a son of the late Martin and Proska (Pastor) Wargo.
He attended school at Kulpmont High School and then entered the Army during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of the Catawissa Lions club and Our Lady of Mercy Church. He enjoyed golfing and computers. John helped build Kidsburg in Bloomsburg, and loved spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife the former Adele Chelvi, whom he married June 11, 1955, two children; John Wargo Jr. and wife Melanie of Poughkeepsie, NY, Cynthia Ann Dillon and husband Joseph of West Nyack, NY, five grandchildren; James Wargo and wife Heather, Victoria Delmage and husband Josh, David Wargo, Ed Dillon, and Kaitlin Dillon, and two great-grandchildren; Nolan and Hunter Delmage. Also, two sisters Irene Homski and Anna Goodlinous of Kulpmont.
John was preceded in death by his parents as well as three brothers; Murphy, Andrew, and Joseph Wargo, and three sisters: Sophie Marro, Theresa Pickles, and Elsie Kralyck.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday March 8, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Road, Catawissa with Father Thomas Mannion officiating. Burial will follow at St.Peter’s Cemetery, Mount Carmel. Family will receive friends Monday March 7, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Allen R.
