Karmel June Schlieder, 94, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord September 21, 2016 at Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born June 26, 1922 in Mill Grove, a daughter of the late Frank and Lula (Rarig) Sevison.
She graduated from Locust Township High School and then attended business school in Harrisburg. She is a member of the Kulp United Methodist Church where she also sang in the Church Choir, Roaring Creek Valley Grange, Columbia County Homemakers and she was also a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and preserving vegetables and fruit. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest “Ernie” Schlieder Sr. who passed away April 13, 2004 and four brothers Daniel, Earl, William and her twin brother Carl Sevison and a sister Ruth Reimard.
She is survived by two sons Ernest “Ed” Schlieder Jr. and his wife Eileen and Mark A. Schlieder and his wife Becky all of Catawissa and two daughters Susan and her husband Rodney Matthew of Haughton, LA and Jo Ann and her husband Jeffery Schwartz of Daytona, Fl and six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 4:00 pm Kulp United Methodist Church 1395 Old Reading Rd. Catawissa, Pa 17820, with her Pastor Adam Miller officiating. Burial will be at Kulp Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. Friends unable to attend may send condolences at allenrhornefuneralhome.com.
