Kenneth G. Brophy, 86, of Elysburg passed away Thursday September 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 10, 1930 in Fisherdale, Columbia County, a son of the late Raymond and Opal (Coutts) Brophy.
Kenneth graduated from Numidia High School, and then worked and retired from Catawissa Lumber. He enjoyed going on 13 cruises with his wife Patricia, and farming. He was a member of Fisherdale United Methodist Church. He attended Numidia Valley Bible Fellowship, formerly Red Brick Church, Numidia.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years the former Patricia Zelesnikar, three children; Dale Brophy and wife Lori of Catawissa, Dayne Brophy and wife Susan of Bloomsburg, and Denise Knoebel and husband Dan of Elybsurg, step son Robert Moore and wife Deborah of Berwick, brother Charles Brophy and wife Sandra of Elysburg, and sister Dora Mae Miller of North Carolina. As well as 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents as well as brother James Brophy, and two step-children Deborah Jean Baker and Larry Moore.
In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be sent to Columbia Montour Home Health Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave # 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Services will be Monday September 12, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Chaplain Chris Dunlap and his nephew Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday September 11, 2016 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
