Lucille Faux Obituary

On Thursday afternoon, March 3, 2022, Lucille Virginia Faux – 96 - of Catawissa passed away peacefully at her home and is now reunited in eternal jubilee with all the family and friends from her youth who were waiting with open arms to embrace her.  Born on October 1, 1925, in Catawissa to the late Roy and Irene (Davis) Linn, Lucille was the youngest of their four children and only daughter. Family legend is that she was named after a loose heel on a shoe.  Her father Roy was a cobbler, who repaired and refurbished shoes for a living and later in life worked as a custodian at the Catawissa School. She resided at her current address since 1964 and was a lifelong resident of Catawissa and member of the Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Prior to her passing, Lucille was recognized by the town’s mayor as Catawissa’s oldest resident.

A graduate of Catawissa High School, class of 1943, she married her husband, the late Raymond (Juny) Faux, Jr. of Catawissa, in Meridian, Mississippi on February 5, 1951. Her husband served in the U.S. Army in World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Prior to his passing in 2002, they had celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Lucille and Raymond shared a love of antiques and their dogs.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was proceeded in death by her beloved brothers Marvin Linn and his wife Alice (Martin), Walter Linn and his wife Althea (Yocum), and Robert (Bob) Linn and his wife Sophie(Nazarchyk), and a niece Victoria (Linn) McHenry-Pheasant. Lucille and her brothers stayed close throughout their lives.  She was her brothers’constant source of sisterly love and bedevilment.

Like many young women in town, Lucille started her working career at the Regal Shirt Factory in Catawissa.  She then became a teacher’s aide atthe Southern Columbia Area School District. Prior to retirement, her last place of employment was Geisinger Medical Center in Patient Transport. Like her father Roy, Lucille was known to have a keen sense of humor. She enjoyed entertaining members of the Catawissa Senior Center in character as the Easter Bunny, Mrs. Claus, and Mae West.  Lucille will be remembered most for her unique spirit and unbridled love for her family and friends.  An ancient Proverb says that “if a family has an old person in it, it possesses a jewel.”  She was our diamond in the rough!  She was matriarch to the younger generations of her family and a wellspring of nostalgic memories that all those who knew her will cherish forever. Lucille was our link between the bygone generations and her presence in our lives was the inheritance of our family’s soul.

Lucille was the last member of her immediate family and the sole member who was blessed to have lived long enough to meet its youngestgeneration. She is survived by her nephews Michael Linn and wife Roxann, Catawissa, and Joseph Faux and wife Pamela of Montoursville. Nieces Joanne (Linn) and husband, Terry Blass, Catawissa, and Diane (Linn) and husband Charles Barnes, Mifflinville. Great nephews include Daniel McHenry, Danville; Kirby Blass and his wife Erica (Young), La Plata, MD; Bret Huss, Danville. Great nieces Jennifer (Barnes) and husband Brian Krainski, Bloomsburg; Julie (Barnes) and husband Millard Shum, Stafford, VA; Alison (Blass) and husband Andrew Devine, Catawissa; Nicole (Linn) and husband Fergus Stiles, Pottsville; Sarah (Linn) and husband Brian Derr, Mountain Top. Great-great nephews, Henry and Simon, sons of Kirby and Erica Blass. Great-great nieces, Kennedy and Kelsey, daughters of Alison and Andrew Devine.

The family is eternally grateful for the wonderful friends and neighbors who regularly visited and called Lucille, her compassionate caregivers Diane, Kim, and Roger, and the staff of Geisinger Home and Hospice.
