Lydia R. Kiefer, 96, formerly of Catawissa, passed away September 12, 2017, at Grandview Health and Rehabilitation, Danville. She was born September 11, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Alexander and Julia (Pavelic) Shvedoff.
Lydia worked at the Necco Candy Factory in Brooklyn, New York, and sold Avon products for over 35 years. She enjoyed roller skating, making crafts, crocheting, canning, making jelly, and painting with pastel oils.
Lydia is survived by four children; Paul A. Kiefer, Jr. of Doylestown, PA, Jeffrey P. Kiefer of Bloomsburg, PA, Russell T. Kiefer of Mifflinburg, PA, and Linda Kiefer of Bloomsburg.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Kiefer who passed away August 1988, son Garrett H. Kiefer, and two sisters; Anna Midskang and Sophia Gulbrandson, and two brothers; Constance Shvedoff, and Alex Shvedoff. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday October 18, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Freewill Cemetery with Pastor Mike Spagnuolo officiating. Family and friends may send online condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com.
