Margaret Marie Helwig 93, of Catawissa, passed away Tuesday March 10, 2015, Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. She was born April 21, 1921 in Locust Township, a daughter of the late William T. and Cora Mae Blass Helwig.
She lived in Bloomsburg for 25 years before returning home to the homestead where she was born to help care for her parents and brother. Margaret graduated from Locust Township High School. She worked child care for several years and Magee Carpet as a weaver for 44 years and retired in 1986. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ and the Sunday school where she served as a teacher and superintendent in the primary department, and a member of the Women’s Guild.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Glenn and Earl Helwig and a sister Charlotte Williams.
She is survived by a sister Irma Davis and her husband Tanny, Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews; great- nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
