Margaret (Peg) E. (McAndrew) Palachick

Margaret (Peg) E. Palachick 92, of Numida passed away Tuesday May 12, 2015 at her son’s residence. She was born March 8, 1923 in Shenandoah, Pa, a daughter of the late James J. and Edith Mae (Jordan) McAndrew.

                She attended West Mahoning Township High School. Peg owned and operated Palachick’s General Store for over 60 years. She was a member of the Valley Chemical Fire Co. Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, loved to collect cook books and spending time with her family. She loved her community and they loved her.

                Peg is survived by three children: Margaret (Peggy) A. Wertz and husband Ronald of Danville, Michael J. Palachick of Catawissa and a special friend Margaret Knoebel of Elysburg, and Jo Anne Palachick of Catawissa. Also, four grandchildren: Jenice Palachick, William Saweikis, Benjamin Palachick, and Paul Saweikis, and one great-granddaughter Skye Saweikis. As well as a son-in-law William Saweikis, of Catawissa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Palachick who passed away October 13, 1995, and a daughter Edith Mae Saweikis, who passed away August 1, 2003. As well as three sisters: Lila Welna, Marcilla Straub, and Doris Frederick, and two brothers Thomas and James McAndrew.

Services will be Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Elysburg Alliance Church, 113 Alpha Ave. Elysburg Pa with Pastor Andrew Knisely officiating. Family will receive friends Monday May 18, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the church, and Tuesday May 19, 2015 from 10:00 am until time of service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
