Marvin L. Mensch, 93, of Elysburg, passed from this life to be with his heavenly Father on March 1, 2017 at Nottingham Village in Northumberland. He was born on February 27, 1924, to the late Ralph and Cloma (Riegel) Mensch at the Elysburg home he resided in for 92 years. Marvin married his sweetheart, Alice M. Friday, on November 22, 1945, celebrating 72 years together.

A graduate of Ralpho Township High School, Marvin went on to work in construction then retired from TRW after 33 years crafting airfoils for jet aircraft and valves for automobiles. Additionally, he enjoyed traveling; maintaining a farm with various types livestock and crops; logging towering trees for lumber at his sawmill; endlessly manicuring the property; and enthusiastically flying his airplane, riding motorcycle and visiting neighbors on his four wheeler in his spare time. Family and friends affectionately referred to him by his "handle", the Flying Farmer.

Marvin was always introducing himself to strangers, striking up conversations and making new friends wherever he went. He was well known for encouraging people to “keep looking up!”

Marvin will be sorely missed by his wife, Alice; four children, Dr. Elaine Mensch Buch (James) of Marco Island, FL; Gregory Mensch (Cynthia) of Auburn, PA; Gail Mensch Shutt of Elysburg, PA; and Patricia Mensch Timbers (Vincent) of State College, PA; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kirk Mensch of Myerstown, PA; Keith Mensch (Laura) of Milton, DE; Jennifer Marks (Chris) of Northumberland, PA; Jessica Buch of Miami, FL; Kenneth Mensch (Tiffani) of Knoxville, TN; Lindsay Ball (Matthew) of Leesburg, VA; and Bradley Mensch (Tracy) of Auburn, PA; eight great-grandchildren, Jillian Mensch, Jacob Mensch, Joelle Mensch, Elsa Mensch, Kai Mensch, Nicholas Marks, Brooklyn Marks, and Ethan Ball; and sister Barbara Jane (late David R.
