Mary Louise (Kreischer) Beaver, 84, of Numidia, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 at Signature Healthcare Bloomsburg, PA. She was born May 26, 1933 in Numidia, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Beaver) Kreischer. She graduated from Locust Township High School in 1952.
Mary Louise worked at and later managed the Billig Funeral Home in Numidia. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Numidia and as an attendant in the Arts and Crafts building during the Bloomsburg Fair, where she also exhibited her prize-winning quilts.
Mary Louise was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, now known as the (Red Brick) Numidia Bible Fellowship Church where she was an active participant in the quilting circle. She was an avid gardener known for growing a variety of beautiful flowers, an accomplished seamstress and a member of the National Grange in Numidia for 68 years. Mary Louise and her husband George were members of the WBCCI (world’s largest airstream club), traveling to 48 states and wintering in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Mary Louise will be greatly missed by surviving family which includes George, her beloved husband of 23 years; seven step-children: Michael Beaver (Judy), Mary Rose Luby (Jim), Frances Moser (Neil), James Beaver, George Beaver Jr., Anne Clark (Tracy) and Elizabeth Beaver; six step-grandchildren: J. Aaron Moser (Quinn), Rachel MacNamara (William IV), Ashley Shaffer (Justin), Amber Wintersteen, Lindsey Herman (Kyle), Katrina Beaver; and five step-great grandchildren: Cole, Brynna, William V, Gunnar and Noah. She will also be greatly missed by her numerous nephews and nieces including Donald Kreischer (Donna), Janet Rosenzweig (David) and Carolyn Hower, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Louise was also preceded in death by her sister Evelyn, brother Robert and niece Ruth Marie Albertson, and nephew Jon Hower.
A memorial service will be held Sunday February 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa with Pastor Ryan Reigh officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until time of service.
A celebration of her life will also be held on May 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Numidia Bible Fellowship Church Hall (The Grove). Burial will follow at Numidia Bible Fellowship Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Louise’s name to Numidia Bible Fellowship Church, 42 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, PA 17820; or Valley Chemical Fire Co., 1223B Numidia Dr., Catawissa, PA 17820.
