Pearl E. Bickert, 91, formerly of Catawissa Pa, went to be with the Lord, July 5, 2016 at Geisinger Bloomsburg health Care Center, surrounded by her family.
Pearl was born April 28, 1925 on the family farm in Franklin TWP, a daughter of the late John and Lottie (Gottshall) Ernest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Bickert, who passed away in 1969, two brothers Walter and Howard Ernest, and three sisters Hazel Rhodes, Mary Morrow and Edna Shultz.
Pearl was a lifelong member of Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catawissa (formerly St. John’s Lutheran). Her church activities included: choir, church women, and donut bake, church greeter coordinator and alter care.
In her earlier years, Pearl was a Cub Scout Den Mother and enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and attending Columbia County Homemakers Association meetings. She also worked the voter polling station for many years. Although she never drove, she was always eager to go bargain shopping whenever she had a chance.
Pearl lived at her North Second Street home in Catawissa for over 64 years where she most enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and flowers.
Surviving Pearl are her two children Phyllis Roeder (Ron-deceased) of Orangeville and Rodney Bickert (Earl) of Mechanicsburg, three grandchildren Lori Roeder (Jeff) of Numidia, Michael Roeder (Yolanda) of New Jersey and Shelly Roeder (Lisa) of North Carolina; five great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Rob, Jon and Grace. She has two brothers, Marion (Jim) Ernest of Catawissa and Carl Ernest and his wife Mary Anna of Berwick, two sisters, Irene Moser of Bloomsburg and Thelma Williams of Scotch Valley and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11:00 am from Christ United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 116 Church Street, Catawissa Pa. 17820, with her Pastor Melody Sell and her nephew, Pastor James Ernest officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 am till time of service at the church.
