Pearl (Bittner) Shaffer

Pearl Shaffer, 85, of Catawissa, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Berwick Hospital. She was born April 27, 1931, in Catawissa, a daughter of the late William and Lula (Adams) Bittner.
She attended Catawissa High School. She enjoyed going to antique and flea markets, and was very knowledgeable in antiques. She was the family historian.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred E. Shaffer, who passed away Oct. 11, 2015, and three sisters: Ruth LeVan, Dorothy Hauck, and Nancy Bucher.
Pearl is survived by two sons: David W. Shaffer and his wife, Coleen, of Catawissa; James M. Foust and his wife, Denise Heller, of Delaware; a granddaughter, Rebekka J. Heller.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Rd., Catawissa. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
