Ray Bittner Obituary


Ray A. Bittner 81, of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord, Thursday August 20, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 15, 1939, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Marvin W. and Anna (Walter) Bittner.

Ray graduated from Southern Columbia High School. He served in the National Guard and worked for Weis Markets for over 59 years. Ray enjoyed butchering and deer processing. He loved farming, going for rides in his golf cart, and raising ponies and miniature horses through the years. He was always busy fixing something.  Ray most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife Elaine (LeVan) Bittner, whom he married on September 22, 1962, four children: Tammy Bittner, Todd Bittner and his wife Elsie, Greg Bittner and his wife Donna, all of Catawissa and Susan Sinton and her husband Bob of Fredericksburg, Virginia, as well as four grandchildren: Joel, Corey, Logan and Emily, and two great grandchildren:  Mason and Oliver.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents as well four siblings:  Ruth Billman, Elsie Letterman, Marvin (Bud) Bittner and Lee Bittner.

The family would like to thank Geisinger Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Ray, with special thanks to Amy, Carrie, and Jackie.
