Robert E. “Hookie” Kopitsky, 69, of Bloomsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 24, 1955 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Felix and Catherine (Voystock) Kopitsky.
He graduated from Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, Class of 1973. Hookie worked and retired from Gould’s in Ashland, where he was the shop supervisor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gunsmithing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Ambulance and Bloomsburg Fire Department.
Hookie is survived by his wife, the former Gail Matter, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage; two daughters: Katy Kopitsky, fiancé, Jason Leiby, of Bloomsburg, Kristina Depew, husband, Josh, of Enola; three grandchildren: Gavin Boyle, Tanner Depew, MaryAnn Depew; and brother, Anthony Kopitsky, wife, Peggy, of Bloomsburg.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; as well as daughter, Elizabeth Kopitsky; son, Robert Kopitsky; and brother, Steve Kopitsky.
Services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with Pastor Mike Spagnuolo officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
A wake will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Bloomsburg Fire Co., 911 Market St., Bloomsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s name may be sent to Special Olympics, Columbia/Montour, P.O. Box 654, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
