Ruth Edna (Mensch) Herman

            Ruth Edna Herman, 86, of Catawissa, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 20, 2015, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by family, who were singing carols and hymns.
            She was born December 2, 1929 in Catawissa, the daughter of the late Howard and Kathryn (Gotshall) Mensch.
            Ruth attended Fisherdale School and Catawissa Schools. She was an active member of Catawissa First United Methodist Church all her life. Ruth was a Girl Scout leader. She was a homemaker, loved gardening and was the best mother anyone could wish for. Before she was married she worked at Emenee Shirt Factory.
            Ruth is survived by her husband of 57 years, Reuben Herman, whom she married January 4, 1958. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters; Linda Kreischer and husband Richard, Catawissa, and Darlene Martin and husband Ervin, Richfield, 7 grandchildren; Melissa Kashi and husband Chris, Jason Brown and wife Rachael, Rachel Graybill and husband Wendell, Reuben Martin, Joshua Martin and wife Brittany, Micah Martin and wife Theresa, and Rebekah Martin, and 7 great-grandchildren. Also, three sisters; Doris Smith, Catawissa, Dorothy Shepard, Florida, Judy Mowery and husband John, Catawissa, and sister-in-laws; Emma Jean Jordan, Danville, Laura Mensch, Catawissa.
            She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sara Ruth Martin, two brothers; Carl and Marlin Mensch, and a sister Lois Howe.
            Services will be December 28, 2015 at 11:00 at Catawissa First United Methodist Church, 228 South St, Catawissa, PA 17820, with her Pastor Lisa Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10:00 till time of service. Family and friends may send online condolences to allenrhornefuneralhome.com.
