Ruth M. Rarig, 96, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Maria Joseph Manor, Danville.
She was born April 20, 1927, in Bloomsburg, a daughter of the late John and Laura (Dimmick) Mowery.
Ruth enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the Roaring Creek Valley Grange, The Valley Chemical Fire Company Auxiliary, St. Paul’s UCC, Numidia. She was Treasurer of the UCC guild for 25 years.
Ruth is survived by three sons: Larry Rarig wife Jean of Lancaster, John Rarig of Catawissa, Ed Rarig of Northumberland; four grandchildren: Melissa Gordon, Stefani Berna-Inzua, Valerie Rarig, Amber Rarig; and three great-grandchildren: Molly Hauck, Ellianna Gordon, and Brinley Morse.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lionel (Jake) Rarig. They were married for 64 years. Also by five sisters: Mary Carl, Effie Lindenmuth, Erma Miller, Geraldine Seidel, and Elanor Fahringer; and four brothers: Adam, Kenneth, Carl, and John Mowery.
Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at noon at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow at Elan Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
