Sheryl Koffel Obituary

Sheryl Ann Koffel, 70, of Catawissa died on Saturday November 13, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 22, 1951 in Kittery Maine, the oldest daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Polowczak) Koffel.

Sheryl grew up in Berwick and is where she had her three sons. She worked for several years at Wise Foods in Berwick. After leaving Wise Foods she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and cared for many in nursing homes and hospitals in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. After living in Wisconsin for more than 20 years, Sheryl was excited to move back to Pennsylvania where she called home and could be close to her family.

She graduated from Berwick High School and Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Sheryl enjoyed reading, watching movies (especially a good sci-fi one) and cooking a delicious meal for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting beautiful blankets and ceramics, but Sheryl’s special talent was decorating her beautiful Ukrainian Pysanky Eggs. She would spend countless hours carefully and skillfully crafting each one and enjoyed sharing this art with her daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

Sheryl is survived by her three sons; Lewis (Janice) Welsh of Omro, Wisconsin, Michael Welsh of Suitland, Maryland, and Steven Welsh of Catawissa, Pennsylvania. She is further survived by sisters Sandra Koffel and Luana Koffel Olenick of Berwick, PA, sister Donna (Jose) Frausto of Plano, Texas, one brother Michael Koffel of Jonestown, PA, grandchildren Tayler, Michaela, and Ethan Welsh, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Michael and Helen Koffel she is also preceded in death by a nephew.
