Tara Johnson Obituary

Tara Leigh Johnson, 55, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Born on February 21, 1970, in Bloomsburg, PA, the daughter of Nancy (Levan) Deutsch of Bloomsburg, and the late Edward Deutsch of Catasauqua. Tara's life was a testament to the power of caring and compassion.

Tara's journey began alongside her twin brother, Timothy and was blessed with the companionship of her siblings Lisa, Mark, Jen, Christy, Jeremy, and Ruth. Her zest for life was evident from an early age, and she carried this energy throughout her life. After graduating from high school, Tara pursued her passion for helping others by receiving her nursing degree from Kaplan University.

On March 27, 1987, Tara married the love of her life, Terry Johnson. Together, they created a family filled with love and laughter, welcoming two daughters, Amanda Hettler and Ashley Deaton. Tara's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and her love only multiplied with the arrival of her 12 grandchildren.

Tara's commitment to service extended beyond her family. She dedicated years of her life working at Hear PA, where her warmth and dedication made a lasting impact on all those she encountered. Her involvement with Kulp United Methodist Church further showcased her desire to serve and uplift her community.

A woman of many talents, Tara found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was a skilled seamstress, a craft she lovingly learned from her mother. Her hands were rarely still, as she found solace in homesteading and canning, preserving not just food, but also the tradition and knowledge passed down through generations. Tara's desire to help knew no bounds, and she often went out of her way to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Those who knew Tara will remember her for her loving nature, her kind heart, and her thoughtful actions. She had the unique ability to make each person feel valued and loved. Her service dog, Luna, was a constant companion and an embodiment of her caring spirit.

Tara's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband, Terry; her devoted daughters, Amanda Hettler (husband Chad Sr.) and Ashley Deaton (husband Fletcher), her adoring grandchildren: Rylan, Chad Jr., Rachael, Olivia, Samuel, Emily, Nathan, Jenna, Kara, Phoenix, Abigail and Rhett; her siblings; and the countless nieces and nephews who were fortunate enough to experience her love and guidance.
