Teresa M. (Doraski) Welkom

Teresa M. Welkom, 86, of Catawissa passed away Wednesday February 8, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1930, in Atlas, PA, a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Chupalio) Doraski.

She attended McIntyre schools and then farmed most of her life, selling eggs and produce in Catawissa, Bloomsburg, Marion Heights, and Kulpmont. Teresa was a founding member of the Valley CB Club. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church. She enjoyed baking for the holidays and sharing the baked goods with family and friends. Teresa liked playing cards, crocheting, playing the guitar, and singing.

Teresa is survived by her son Anthony and wife Cynthia of Catawissa, two grandsons; Eric and Ryan Welkom, five sisters; Eleanor Miller, Josephine Pollock and husband Donald, Cecelia Marks and husband John, Patricia Abraczinskas and husband Eugene, Lucy Defelice and husband Carl. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband Leonard, whom she married September 8, 1956, and three sisters; Marcella Doraski, Irene Lukus, and Pearl Makowski.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday February 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Rd, Catawissa, PA 17820 with Father Thomas Mannion officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday February 12, 2017 at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be sent to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Rd, Catawissa, PA 17820.
