Virginia Lee (Roberts) Rice

Virginia Lee Rice 75, of Catawissa Pa; went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at the Geisinger Medical Center Danville Pa; surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born July 4, 1943, in Bloomsburg Pa; a daughter of the late Donald Charles and Helen Margaret (Pitonak) Roberts.

Virginia was a graduate of Catawissa High School Class of 1961, she then earned her Master’s Degree from Bloomsburg State Teachers College, now known as Bloomsburg University. She taught two years at Pottsgrove Elementary, then going to Southern Columbia Elementary for 28 years. Virginia was a member of the Bloomsburg Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting and needle point, also enjoyed reading and enjoyed watching the News on TV.  Virgina also loved her dogs

Virginia is survived by her husband of 56 years, William H. Rice Jr; they were married on August 31, 1962, she is also survived by a daughter Roberta A. Pickering and her husband Robert W. of Lewisburg Pa. and a son William C. Rice of Catawissa Pa. A granddaughter Jiali Pickering, and a sister Mary Ellen Fetterman of Catawissa Pa.

Services will be Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Christ Untied Evangelical Lutheran Church 216 Church St. Catawissa Pa; with her Pastor Melody Sell officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery. The Eastern Star will do a service at 9:45 am at the church. Family will receive friends from 9:00 am till 9:45 am at the church.
