Wayne M. Shoup

Wayne M. Shoup, 61, of Elysburg, passed away on June 10, 2026.

He was born on Dec. 22, 1964, in Sunbury, a son of the late David C. Shoup and Shelvia Jean Rhodes.

He graduated from Southern Columbia High School and carried the lessons of that time with him throughout his life. Wayne was known as a handyman in the truest sense of the word, someone who could fix, build, and improve nearly anything he set his mind to. He took pride in being useful, and those who knew him often turned to him when something needed to be repaired or when a steady hand was needed. His ability to work with his hands was matched by his willingness to help, and that combination made him someone family and friends could always count on.

Wayne enjoyed the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. He found satisfaction in woodworking, where patience and craftsmanship came together in a way that suited him well. He also enjoyed hunting, hiking, and riding motorcycle, activities that reflected his appreciation for the outdoors and for time spent in motion and in nature.

He is survived by his three daughters: Dorothy M. Shoup, Rebecca L. Krum and her husband, Ben, and Molly J. Shoup. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney M. Shoup.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his son, Andrew D. Shoup.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with Pastor Chris Dunlap officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
