Wayne Elwood Yohey, 85, of Catawissa, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born July 12, 1936, in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Clarence and Abbie (Cox) Yohey.
He attended school in Catawissa, and then joined the United States Army. Wayne worked at Catawissa Lumber. He was a member of Catawissa Hose Co., former Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader, and coached Little League baseball. Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Wayne is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Irene Shoup, whom he married June 29, 1963; four children: Wayne Yohey Jr. and significant other, Christine Cameron, of Berwick, Roger Yohey, wife, Angie, of Catawissa, Connie Lindenmuth, husband, Michael, of Catawissa, Darlene Yohey of Catawissa; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Theodore Yohey, of Muncy; and three sisters: Edith Shoffler of Catawissa, Judy DeGhetto of Catawissa, and Linda Klatt, husband, Charles, of Catawissa.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents as well as sister, Dawn Deska.
Services will be Tuesday March 22, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Gordon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
