William Tharp Obituary

William W. Tharp, 92, of Elysburg, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the home of his companion.

He was born April 29, 1926 in Shamokin, a son of the late Lloyd and Maude (Reeder) Tharp.

Bill attended school in Coal Township. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Carpenters Union II.  Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joan LaRue Dunkleberger and two brothers and two sisters.

Bill is survived by his companion Gertrud Burns and two sons William L. Tharp and Benjamin Tharp and his wife Bonnie of Elysburg and two daughters Donna Clark of Millheim and Bonnie Tharp of Reno, Nevada and six grandchildren: William F. Tharp  of Shamokin, Leslie (Clark) Warriner of Millheim, Jessica Clark of New York, NY, Aaron Clark of Danville, James Reinaker of Delaware, OH and Rebecca Reinaker of Jacksonville, FL and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 8:00pm at the Allen R. Horne Funeral Home and Cremation Service 193 McIntyre Rd. Catawissa, Pa 17820. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Shamokin. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 pm until the time of service.
